Last Saturday of the Month
Le Tour de Pichets is a monthly mini-vacation intended to promote the use of cycling and clean transportation for regional tourism. Each monthly excursion leverages rail transit to spend a day riding our bikes through a network of craft breweries in a region that would otherwise be just out of reach. These day trips serve as good practice for multi-day annual trips that take us to far-off lands to ride more elaborate routes.
DISCLAIMER: EVERYONE RIDES AT THEIR OWN RISK. We do our best to keep everyone safe but we can't be everywhere at once so you (and only you) are always responsible for your own safety on our rides.
Always bring your own bike lock, patch kit, communication device, and valid form of identification.
2024 Excursions

2023 Excursions
2023_01-28
11:30am Vineyard Recreation Center
12pm Three Weavers
This route is inspired by our first "Ciclavia Detour" ride which took us to many of these destinations and we're particularly looking forward to revisiting the first stop, SoCal Vibes Co.
How you get to the start is up to you but you're welcome to join us in kicking off this excursion with a ride on the new Metro K Line to Westchester/Veterans Station. From there we will cross the street and gather at Three Weavers before we embark on a tour of South Bay breweries and return along the coast.
The official end of the ride will be at Vineyard Recreation Center where you could easily park at the beginning of the day before hopping on the Metro K Line with us but you are also welcome to splinter off the route on our way in order to head in whatever direction home is for you. Feel free to DM us to coordinate.
Ciclavia All Valley Detournament
2023_02-26
10:45am Vineyard Recreation Center
12pm North Hollywood Station
These Le Tour de Pichets rides are *supposed* to always be on a Saturday but we had so much fun incorporating a Ciclavia event into a longer route last year that we just couldn't resist doing it again even if it meant moving the ride to a Sunday this time.
Starting from North Hollywood Station, we'll stop at Macleod Ale and take a lap around Lake Balboa on our way to Ciclavia. Once we complete the 5mi closed course, we will continue on a lap around the valley with stops at (up to) 7 more breweries before we get back to North Hollywood Station.
Since this route begins and ends at North Hollywood Station, you could park a car there if there isn't a suitable Metro route to your abode or you could also park in West Adams and join us for a rail ride to the start from there.

10:45am Vineyard Recreation Center
11:30am Union Station
12pm South Pasadena Station
This route makes an incomplete loop around Pasadena, Alhambra, Temple City, Monrovia, and Sierra Madre as we pass 9 local breweries before ending at the Stone Brewing Taproom by Del Mar Station. The miles aren't very long but there are some moderate inclines to conquer.
Since this ride starts and ends at Metro Gold Line stations in Pasadena we recommend that you use the rail system to get there and you'd be welcome to join us in hopping the rail from West Adams. There is also paid parking at both South Pasadena and Del Mar Metro stations if you'd prefer to stash a car or have a friend pick you up.
a LONG river flows to a BEACH
2023_04-29
11:30am Vineyard Recreation Center
12pm Jefferson/USC Station
We recommend that you take the Metro Expo Line to the start of this ride but you could also park a car nearby and collect it when we return via rail. We'll cruise through the warehouse district of Vernon on our way to the LA River Bike Path which will serve as the main artery of our route South to Long Beach. Along the way, we will branch out to reach nearby breweries that are all within just a mile or two of the river.
Pretty much the entire route is downhill and on a protected bike path so we understand if you can't help but go fast under those conditions. Therefore we'll regroup at Ralph C. Dills Park and De Forest Park to prevent anyone getting left behind.
There will be a final photo-op at The Lion Lighthouse before we head past the last couple of breweries on the way to wrap it up at Anaheim St Station where we can board the Metro Blue Line headed back toward the start. Trademark Brewing is just a block away from the station so you could meet a friend there if you plan to get picked up instead.
From Mickey with Love
2023_05-27
9:30am Vineyard Recreation Center
10:30am Union Station
11:35am Anaheim Station
This route will start in Anaheim and connect the dots between 5 breweries (and Disneyland) on the way back to West Adams where we will conclude at a speak-easy-inspired local cocktail club with a pair of analogue turntables and a house collection of vinyl.
We highly recommend riding Metro and Metrolink to and from this ride but if you live somewhere that requires you to drive to get to the area, then you have 2 options:
1) You can park near Vineyard Recreation Center early enough to join us when we roll out at 9:30am to take the Metro Expo Line toward Union Station
2) You can park at Union Station early enough to join us when we board the Metrolink OC Line or Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train departing at 10:50am
If you choose the latter, you'll have the option to break away from our route to head a couple miles North up Alameda St to collect your car OR join us all the way to the last stop and hop on the Metro Expo Line back to DTLA from there.
If you choose you meet us at Anaheim Station... well you'll have to come up with your own plan for how to get home because the ride is one-way from there!
Wild Stallyns' Loop
2023_06-24
9am Vineyard Recreation Center
10:30am Union Station
11:15am Baldwin Park Station
This excellent adventure takes us to the far East end of Los Angeles County to visit a dozen breweries in a loop that starts and ends at Baldwin Park Station. You can meet us at Vineyard Recreation Center for a Metro rail hop to Union Station or join us there in time to board the Metrolink San Bernardino Line at 10:30. If you choose to drive (or get picked up) there is plenty of parking near Baldwin Park Station.
The first half of the route will be along a gradual incline and the rest will be mostly downhill as we pass through West Covina, Walnut, San Dimas, La Verne, Pomona, Ramona, South San Jose Hills, and City of Industry. We won't be venturing up the big hill to Waterloo but we might take a short detour to see if Rufus is hanging around San Dimas High School.
The Orange Coast
2023_07-29
10:00am Vineyard Recreation Center
10:45am Union Station
12:15pm San Juan Capistrano Station
This ride starts just north of San Diego County and carries us all the way up the coast of Orange County until we get to Long Beach, where we will board the Metro Blue Line headed back to Downtown Los Angeles.
You can join us from Union Station in time to board the Metrolink OC Line departing at 10:50am or meet us earlier at Vineyard Recreation Center where we will return via Metro Expo Line at the end of the day.
Erosion Control
2023_08-26
10am Vineyard Recreation Center
10:30am Pico Station
11:30pm 1st St Station
This route starts in Long Beach and works around the Port of Los Angeles to San Pedro and makes a visit to The Sunken City before taking a scenic tour around the rim of Palos Verdes and back up the coast.
This is a gorgeous but not particularly flat ride which is best taken at a leisurely pace so we'll make a few photo-op stops, pause at least once for a snack grab, stop at 5 breweries and pop by a tap room and a bar on our way back to Party Beer Co in West Adams where we usually start our Snack Friday rides.
The finish is adjacent to the Metro Expo Line so you can probably get home from there but if you need to drive we recommend starting the day early with us and parking at Vineyard Recreation Center since it is close to the finish.

8:00am Vineyard Recreation Center
8:30am Union Station
11:00am Oceanside Transit Center
12:00am Escondido Transit Center
We know you're looking at that list of rail stations and thinking "So many trains!" Well just wait 'til you get a load of the list of destinations below! Okay, okay, we don't have to stop at all of them... but the point is that we could. As the name suggests, there are some meaderies in the mix as well as a photo-op by Legoland.
We'll be taking the Metrolink OC Line from Union Station to Oceanside Transit Center, where we will catch the Sprinter to Escondido. After that we will use our bikes to claw our way back to the coast and up to Oceanside where we will hop on the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner headed for Union Station (last train departs at 7:57 but we will endeavor to be earlier). If you have to drive, you have the option of parking near any of the stations listed above and taking trains to get back to it.
THE RESULTS ARE IN!
We held a public vote in our Instagram story and narrowed down the field from over 40 destinations to just 6 stops in under 30mi with just over 1,000ft of climbs.
We’ll see you in Escondido at noon on Sat Sept 30 when we’ll sample some meads and grab a group photo at Legoland on our way back to Oceanside where we’ll hop a train back to LA.

10:45am Union Station
11:30pm Fullerton Station
We won't be stopping at all 23 breweries along this 37mi route because we need to make the last train home at a reasonable hour but, once again, we could! Despite what it looks like at a glance, this ride is mostly downhill and much of it is on a protected bike path along the Santa Ana River.
You're welcome to ride or drive join us from Vineyard Recreation Center for our Metro rail hop ride from West Adams to Union Station before we board the Metrolink OC Line to the start of the ride at Fullerton Station. You could also meet us at Union Station which also a parking option for drivers wishing to collect their car after the ride. The route circles back to Fullerton Station where we can get back to Union Station by boarding a Metrolink train at 6:54pm. Alternatively, one could hop on a train back to the start from the halfway point during the ride at Orange Station. If you miss the last Metrolink to LA there will be a slightly less ideal Amtrak a couple hours later.
